The first wedding!!

Well on Sunday, was the first of my brother’ weddings! The legal civil ceremony….the Sikh wedding will be at the end of August with a couple of other parties thrown in between!!!

The day was beautiful, the forecast rain did not arrive and was very hot in the end…at points, bit too hot!

The ceremony and the location of Pennyhill Park in Surrey were beautiful as was the bride!

It was so wonderful to see all the family together and spend time with them and friends.

The array of colours and styles of outfits were amazing. From quite simple maxi dresses to ornately decorated sarees and everything in between!!

Lemon infused water.

So …as the weather is so great and I keep telling myself I should drink more water, today I started drinking lemon infused water.
Last night before I went to bed, I filled a litre bottle with water and added half a lemon (sliced) and put it in the fridge.
This morning took it out and took it to work…
Just had my one usual cup of coffee when I got there but after that drunk the water…already cutting three other cups of tea/coffee I would have drunk in that time and the sugar that would have gone in them!!
Drinking this water can aid weight loss and is obviously good for your skin so am going to continue with it.
You can also add mint to it for taste and mints properties too…
Also read so many other benefits that go with it…
Stimulates the liver, helps digestion, cleanses your body, prevents colds and cancer too!!
So get drinking guys!

Unexpected weight loss!! Always a bonus!

Ok, so my brother is getting married this month…

As it’s a Sikh wedding, there are a few different occasions, each requiring a different outfit of course!!

So this weekend I was trying some updos, not with much luck, I hasten to add!! So I thought I would try the dress on that I would wear with that hairstyle…

Now this dress was made to measure, especially for me in the colour I wanted a few months ago now (as we have been looking for outfits for a while) and it had fit perfectly….until this weekend!!

When I tried it on it was loose!!!
Woohoo! I had been trying to lose some weight but didn’t think I had succeeded…I obviously have as the dress needs taking in!!

Well nice surprise I must say…
Will keep you updated with the latest wedding updates. Not long to go, have been waiting for ages!

I think I should try the other outfits on too now to make sure!!

Mum knows best!! Old wives tales or the best advice?

As a mum myself, I find myself more and more giving my daughter the advice my mum and grandmother
gave me when I was growing up…what really made me think about it was when my daughter said her friend had used coconut oil and wanted to try…
Now for years and years our family has used coconut oil in our hair, my mum always used it on me when I was younger and my hair is still thicker than ever at nearly 40!!
I did tell my daughter that I had already used it on her when she was younger as it’s been something that has always been used in our family.
So it’s something that has obviously become something that the younger generation are now doing as her friend told her about it! So something we have been using in our family and in our Indian culture for generations was now the latest ‘fad’!! Although at the time I used to find it a pain…walking around with greasy hair for hours while you let it soak into your hair, then having to really wash it well to get it all out, which as a teen with hair past her bum was not easy!!!
So I thought would share some good points of using coconut oil with you that I found out:
(A lot that surprised me!)
* Aids weight loss…try adding 1 teaspoon to your diet and work up to 4.
* eases digestion, avoid bloatedness.
* manage type 2 diabetes – improves insulin sensitivity.
* boosts metabolism.
* prevents sagging and wrinkles. Apply coconut oil directly to your skin to soften the appearance of fine lines or use it daily on your face and body for a healthy glow.
* and of course for your hair, the best natural conditioner, makes your hair healthy and shiny, repairs damaged hair, apply to your scalp for dandruff free hair, no matter how dry…
There are also so many other good qualities I didn’t know about, like helping immune system and against heart disease, the list goes on and on…never used it in food but think will start adding it to my diet as well as to my head!!
Thanks Mum!!
